Tilonia Weavers

Barefoot handloom textiles are produced by 18 weavers of the Gramin Hastshlip Vikas Society, the weavers' association based in Tilonia.

Above, Mohamed Hussein is the son of master weaver Jordan who has been working in Tilonia since 1979. Jordan has been a master weaver for more than 30 years. Below, yarn is reeled onto bobbins for weaving.

Tilonia, in the Ajmer District of Rajasthan in rural India is the home of the Barefoot College.

For more than 37 years, the College has worked to improve the lives of the rural poor by addressing basic needs for water, electricity, housing, health, education and income.
